Why can't my customers upload images through my contact form?

If your customers are having trouble uploading images through your contact form, there are two common reasons: the form does not have enough upload fields, or the image files exceed the size limit.

How Image Upload Fields Work
Each image upload field on a Jottful contact form allows visitors to upload one file.
If you would like customers to upload multiple images, a separate upload field must be added for each image. For example, if you need customers to upload five images, your form must contain five image upload fields.
If you need additional image upload fields added to your form, please contact Jottful Support.

Contact Form File Upload Limits
Jottful contact forms allow visitors to upload files and images, but each file must be 5 MB or smaller.
If a customer attempts to upload a file larger than 5 MB, the form submission will fail and the visitor will receive a message letting them know the file is too large.

How to Reduce Image File Size
If an image is larger than 5 MB, customers can:

  • Take a screenshot of the image.
  • Resize the image using their phone or computer.
  • Save the image in a compressed format such as JPG.
  • Use an online image compression tool.

Need to Collect Larger Files?
If your business regularly requires customers to submit large images or documents, you may want to use a dedicated form provider that supports larger file uploads and file storage.
If you need help determining whether a different form solution is right for your business, contact Jottful Support.
