How can I clear my browser cache?
5 mins read
If an old version of your website is still appearing, you may need to "clear the cache" on your browser. This will delete the temporary files stored by your browser, forcing your browser to load the most recent version of the website.
Here's how to clear the cache for common website browsers:
Google Chrome
- Launch Google Chrome.
- At the top right, click the More button.
- Click More Tools, then Clear Browsing Data...
- Or, paste the chrome://settings/clearBrowserData URL in Chrome's address bar and click enter.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time from the drop-down menu.
- Check all the boxes next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
- Click Clear data to clear the cache.
Safari
- In the Menu bar at the top of the Safari toolbar, click Safari and select Preferences from the drop-down menu.
- Click the Advanced tab. Select the Show Develop menu in the menu bar checkbox and close the Preferences window.
- Select the Develop drop-down menu from the Safari toolbar.
- Click Empty Cache from the list.
Mozilla Firefox
- In the Menu bar at the top of the Firefox toolbar, click Firefox and select Preferences.
- Select the Privacy & Security panel.
- In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data…
- Remove the checkmark in front of Cookies and Site Data.
- With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.
- Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically save.
Microsoft Edge
- Launch Microsoft Edge, select the Menu button.
- From the Menu, navigate to Settings > Privacy & services.
- Under Clear browsing data, choose what you'd like to clear.
- Select Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data checkboxes; then select Clear.
