Why am I getting spam from the contact form on my website?
Spammers work hard to attack websites all the time. At Jottful, we're committed to give your website visitors a satisfactory user experience while minimizing the amount of unwanted messages you receive through your website forms.
What we do to reduce spam from your Jottful forms
- We use spam filtering software (learn more below);
- We use a "honeypot" on your forms to trick spambots;
- We manually monitor our filtering to ensure good email is not getting caught in the filters.
While we've put in place a number of systems to reduce the amount of spam you receive, no one can eliminate it completely. In particular, we cannot prevent the sending of unwanted messages from real humans.
About Jottful's spam filtering software
Many of our customers are familiar with RECAPTCHA type-in fields for filtering out spambots. At Jottful, we use the CleanTalk Anti-Spam protection service to protect the forms on your website from spambots.
By using CleanTalk instead of RECAPTCHA, visitors don't have to do anything to pass a spam check, eliminating obstacles for your visitors with limited eyesight or disabilities.
While no spam filtering is perfect, CleanTalk reports their filter effectiveness at 0.998%.
